Common Sense Rules to Star Traders

1.) Only 1 account is allowed per player. You only need one account to play so only create one account. If anyone is found with more than 1 account then they will be banned - in some cases, permanently. Decisions to ban are final and will not be withdrawn.

If more than 1 person plays on your computer, *OR* if you play from a public computer or from a shared network (school, work, library, etc), it is your duty to tell the moderators and explain your situation. If you fail to let the moderators know what's going on, and are later banned for suspected cheating, it's then too late to explain. Unless the Moderators are told otherwise, multiple users from the same remote address(es) will be assumed to be the same person attempting to use multiple accounts.

2.) Moderators decisions are final. While enforcing the rules of the game, the moderators shall make final determination of whether infractions have been committed, based on the data available at the time. Depending on the player's history, the caretakers may elect to give a warning regarding a matter, remove a player from a particular galaxy, remove them from all current galaxies, and if necessary, to permanently disbar the player from the game altogether, or to even drop access to all known addresses (including internet service proxies, school gateways, etc) of that player. The actions of the moderators is final, and not subject to any negotiation, discussion, or notification.

3.) If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. If you find something in the game that seems odd, ask the moderators about it. Star Traders is still a game in progress. Especially if a galaxy is new, there may be things that the moderators don’t know about. If something of this sort comes to the moderators’ attention, and the moderators find that numerous players have known about the problem, that galaxy may be removed from the game.

4.) There are very few things that can get you removed from a galaxy. One of these things is finding a glitch or an unintended error and exploiting it. (See Rule #3) If you find something that enables you to make billions of credits in just a day or two worth of turns or so, it’s not supposed to be there. If you use it to your advantage and do not inform the moderators, you risk being removed from the galaxy. Another of these things is to inform other players of this glitch or unintended error. If you find something that enables you to make billions of credits, and instead of telling the moderators, you tell the 5 other people in your union, you risk being removed from the galaxy, along with the other players. If part of your ship is destroyed in an attack, either against a planet or against another player, and you later notice that it is still functioning and you do not inform the moderators, this may lead to you being removed from the galaxy. Although it is a glitch within the code, it is your responsibility to inform the moderators, and not exploit the glitch. Being removed from a galaxy is NOT a permanent thing. You will be informed why you were removed, and expected not to repeat the behavior. You are free to reenter the galaxy, and start from the beginning again. If you are found to repeat the infraction, you risk being banned from the game.

5.) There are some things that may seem like cheating if it happens to you, but it’s not actually against the rules. Keep in mind that all members of a union have access to union assets. When you join a union, you are putting your trust into the other members that they will not abuse that privilege. If a player takes credits or weapons without authorization from other union members, please do not contact the moderators complaining about this. It is not breaking any rules. That is the chance you take when you become part of a union.

6.) Remember that this is just a game. If you start flaming (i.e. insulting them) other players, they might be hurt by what you have to say. Use your best judgment when talking to other players. If you might be hurt by what you are saying, then don’t say it. Personal insults will not be tolerated. Swearing of any kind will also not be tolerated. If it is discovered that you have been swearing via radio messages, you will be removed from the galaxy.

7.) The Star Traders message board is not to advertise selling things in the game. It’s there so players can ask questions about the game or report glitches. If you decide to advertise for people to join your union or to buy stuff at your planet, these messages will be deleted. Use the radio function in the game to advertise if you feel the need.
