I meant, I attacked someone sitting on the planet, who didn't own the planet, and the planet attacked me even though I hadn't touched it
#1.) Here's the stats: (These can be found in the Available Equipment link on the main Star Traders page.)
Halide shield: Absorbs 80% damage, to 50 points. Uses 5MW per point absorbed.
Maverick shield: Absorbs 90% damage, to 150 points. Uses 3MW per point absorbed.
Predator shield: Absorbs 99% damage, to 300 points. Uses 1MW per point absorbed.
To the best of my understanding, this limit is in one shot. If you have a Predator Shield and someone attacks with 6000 fighters, 4 meson cannons, and some torpedos... you'll probably hit with more than 300 damage points. (This is a for instance. I don't know exactly how much it would take to cause 300 damage points.) Once the energy cells are used up, though... the shield goes down.
#2.) Planets attack if threatened. Ever notice that if you're trying to overtake an unclaimed planet it fights back? It doesn't matter if the owner of the planet is attacked or not.
