Subject:	old account retired?

I've returned to this site for the summer, and I tried to log on as redemblem. It said "login incorrect" when I tried to log on. Then I tried to search for my account/ password using the original email address. I got a message that redemblem did not exist. I remember verifying my old account. After I created this account using a new email address, I went to the fiefdom ranking page and found my original account retired. What happened?
